WOODBRIDGE, Va. - The Potomac Nationals will stay in Prince William County at Pfitzner Stadium through 2020.
County supervisors voted to extend a lease agreement for the team to stay in Woodbridge at the 33-year old stadium.
The condition of Pfitzner Stadium caused the team to seek other land to build a stadium, but the proposed lot at Stonebridge was voted down by supervisors this summer due to finances.
The new lease will allow the team to move any time if they find an alternative location.
"All we're asking for is a little bit more time to get all of the information. This right here is, I think, nothing more than corporate welfare for big, big friends of ours," said Supervisor Pete Candland.
The motion to extend the lease passed in a five to three vote.
