Motorcycle accident leaves one with serious injuries

Investigators: Speed and reckless driving factors

MCNONNELLSBURG, Pa. - An accident involving two motorcycles over the weekend sent one driver to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to a release from Pennsylvania State Police,  the crash happened at 1:51 p.m. on Saturday, in the area of Lincoln Highway, east of Jamie Road in Mcconnellsburg.

Zachary Hardy, 25, of Hagerstown and Robert Smith, 33, of Hagerstown, were the drivers involved, the release said.

Both drivers were headed west on Lincoln Highway when they failed to navigate a left turn near the Tower Ridge Inn.

At that time, the two drivers went straight into a guardrail and subsequently were ejected from their motorcycles, the release said.

Hardy was taken to the Fulton County Medical Center with minor injuries.

Smith was airlifted to Conemaugh Memorial Medical center in serious condition.

Investigators said speed and reckless driving were factors in the crash.
