Greencastle man suspected of shooting, killing his wife

David Lange, 49, charged with criminal homicide

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - A Greencastle man is behind bars, accused of shooting and killing his wife over the weekend.

David Lange, 49, called police around 2 a.m. early Sunday morning, and said he had just shot his wife. He went on to say that he would kill himself, and that the gun was in the house.

Troopers from Pennsylvania State Police responded to the 500-block of Pensinger Road, and took him into custody.

They found Kathleen Lange, 47, laying on her back on the living room floor, with a gunshot wound to the front of her neck.

She was taken to Meritus Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.

Authorities recovered two handguns and a 9mm bullet casing in the living room. According to court records, the suspect was deemed to be "highly intoxicated," and he told troopers that both he and his wife had been "drinking heavily" before the incident. It then escalated from a "verbal domestic dispute" to violence.

Lange has been charged with one count of criminal homicide, and is being held without bond at the Franklin County Jail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 31 at 8:15 a.m. in Franklin County Central Court.

We also learned that Lange is the owner and operator of Lange Lift, LLC in Greencastle.
