CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Chambersburg Police Department is celebrating their 200th anniversary this year and is in the process of compiling artifacts to celebrate.
Patrol Sergeant Anthony Rosenburry is leading the charge and has collected old photos and records. During his search, he made some interesting finds. One being, during the late 1800s they had two African American police officers on the force. He also discovered that at one point the police department used a taxi service to transport prisoners.
"It's important that we document this because these guys put their lives on the limb everyday and i think it's something that we should appreciate," said Anthony Rosenberry, a patrol sergeant with the force.
Rosenberry is also requesting help from the public. He says if you have any old photos or memorabilia, you're asked to give the department a call.
