Pennsylvania Woman Found Dead in Local Hotel

MCCONNELLSBURG, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police are investigating after a woman was found dead inside a McConnellsburg motel room last week.

The incident happened at Johnnie's Motel on Lincoln Way. Currently, police aren't sure what killed 25-year-old Nikki Martz, but her body has been sent for an autopsy.

Her body was found around 12:20 a.m. on March 13th.

"I got the phone call at approximately 12:25, 12:26 and immediately drove up to the hotel to find out if it was true praying to god that it wasn't true and then when I saw everything going on over there I knew that it was true," said Karen Dopkant, who was a friend of the victim.

Police are only calling this a death investigating, they said they're looking into all aspects of what happened.

"She'd be there for you no matter what, if you were a friend of Nikki's, Nikki was there for you as much as you were there for her," said Dopkant. "She'd do anything for you, she was a good kid, she was a really really good kid."

The autopsy should be completed by this Wednesday. Police are asking anyone with information about what happened to contact them directly at (717) 485-3131.
