New figure for Hagerstown Suns 2017 bobblehead

The long-standing tradition honors Williamsport local Boots Poffenberger

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The new figure for the Hagerstown Suns 2017 bobblehead was unveiled today.
 
Boots Poffenberger was honored as the latest bobblehead figure.
 
The Visit Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Hagerstown Suns chose the Williamsport native who pitched for the Detroit Tigers and Brooklyn Dodgers before ending his baseball career with the Hagerstown Owls in 1949. 
 
One local also wrote a book about the life of Poffenberger, which was available for book signing at the unveiling.
 
The 2017 bobblehead will be presented to the first 1,000 fans who attend the Hagerstown Suns game on Aug. 12.
