Man dies after a vehicle becomes displaced from forklift, striking employee

Curtis Lynn Beasley worked at Conservit Incorporated.

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - A worker was killed just before 8 a.m. at Conservit Incorporated, a recycling center in Hagerstown.

An initial investigation by the Washington County Sheriff's Office determined that a vehicle struck and killed Curtis Lynn Beasley, 51, of Hagerstown, an employee in the surrounding area. The incident was determined to be accidental. Because it was an industrial accident, the Maryland Occupational Safety and Health (MOSH) Administration, was brought in to review. Wind does not appear to have been a factor.

"A forklift was moving a vehicle. While doing so, the vehicle became displaced from the forklift and actually ended up coming off the forklift and striking the employee," said Carly Hose, public information officer at Washington County Sheriff's Office.
No one else was injured.
