HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The Hagerstown Police Department and Antietam Academy came together for their initiative called the "Juvenile Call-In."
Students were greeted by public speaker William Killebrew, who shared his story of how he witnessed the murder of his mother and brother but also how one person believing in you can help you overcome such childhood trauma.
The message resonated with one student so much she was inspired to share her story about the passing of her mother and her brother.
Kellibrew said this has inspired him even more to reach out to hurting youth.
"It has made me appreciate what she's going through [and] what her family's going through. I don't even know who she is. But, that's the point here; our compassion, if we demonstrate that beyond who we know, I think that we can open those kinds of doors. I think that that connection was just made here today," said Kellibrew.
Kellibrew said he credits the love and support of his grandmother as the driving force for his success and who he is today.
