FREDERICK, Md. - To try to assist veterans in Frederick County, Md., the Frederick County Council discussed a new bill to implement a Veterans Advisory Council.
With over 17,000 military veterans in the county, the new bill would reach out to those in the military to try and learn more of the challenges they face or help assist them with resources.
Those who spoke at the public hearing wanted to focus on helping homeless veterans and help protect those who have served.
“We want to do everything to coordinate the efforts so that you have a place where you can come and have a group of people to discuss issues that affect you, friends or family members that you may know,” said Frederick County Council, President, Bud Otis.
The council will have a vote on the bill within the upcoming weeks.
