Police arrest man after finding nearly 20 grams of crack cocaine, firearm in Frederick apartment

Police say Demetrius Brown, 37, was arrested after conducting a search warrant

FREDERICK, Md. - A man was arrested after the Frederick Police Department found a substantial amount of illegal drugs and a gun in his apartment.

Police said 37 year-old Demetrius Brown is behind bars after a search warrant was executed on Tuesday evening in the 100-block of Willowdale Drive in Frederick.

Police have connected Brown to about 20 grams of crack cocaine, a firearm and other drug-related items that were found inside the residence.

Police said he had been under surveillance for some time after neighbors reported seeing a high traffic of people at the apartment.

"The investigation began by the Street Crimes Unit of the Frederick Police Department, informants and also information from the community. We were able to make a controlled purchase from this residence, ultimately giving us probable cause for a search warrant,” said Lt. Clark Pennington, Frederick Police Department.

Police said Brown is facing several charges, including possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and possessing a firearm as a felon.
