Forty-two years later, man pleads guilty in chilling cold case

Despite guilty plea, disturbing questions still remain from the case

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. - Forty-two years after Katherine and Sheila Lyon went missing near Wheaton Plaza in Montgomery County, 60-year old Lloyd Welch finally admitted guilt to a crime that shocked the entire Washington, D.C. area.
Welch was given a sentence of 48 years following an agreement made with prosecutors.
The case was handled in Bedford, Va., where the remains of the two young girls where taken and thrown into a fire.
Despite the plea, several disturbing questions still remain from the case, including the location of the bodies and who else was involved in the murders.
