Election day now underway; voter turnout expected to increase in Fairfax County

There's now an extra 20,000 potential voters for Fairfax County compared to 2013

BURKE, Va. - WDVM's Elina Shirazi was LIVE in Burke soon after the polls opened and has some facts coming into Tuesday's election.

There are 243 precincts in Fairfax County, and voter turnout is expected to be high. 

This year, there are over 680,000 voters, compared to 660,000 voters back in 2013; this is an increase of 20,000 people eligible to vote. 

The top races for Tuesday include the races for Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General of Virginia.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
