Meteorologist David Dickson joined the WDVM weather team in December 2016 and is excited to forecast and be a part of everything the 4State region has to offer.
Weather has always been a huge part of David's life. Growing up in Little Rock, Arkansas placed him front row to many severe weather events in the aptly named "Tornado Alley". He has and continues to look up to the meteorologists who calmly monitored the skies during his childhood and drove his decision to become a meteorologist.
Trading tornadoes for hurricanes, David moved to Raleigh, North Carolina to study meteorology at North Carolina State University. During his time at NC State, he was president of the college's broadcast meteorology club and gave live weathercasts on the award winning UNC student-run broadcast, Carolina Week.
After graduating in 2016, with several internships under his belt at stations in Little Rock and Raleigh, David accepted a weekend meteorologist position at KMIZ News in Columbia, Missouri in July 2016. He loved forecasting everything from flooding, heat waves, meteor showers, and fall foliage for Mid-Missouri. Now back in the Mid-Atlantic, David looks forward to new forecasting challenges and waking up with the 4 State region in the morning.
When not forecasting the weather, he loves traveling anywhere and everywhere, including a recent trip to Iceland. When not traveling, he enjoys watching movies, cooking, playing mandolin, and video games.
